Norman is a carer for his son David who sustained a serious head injury in 1993. He
was a founder member of Headway East London in 1997, and recently stood down
as a trustee after 25 years. He was a member of the Board of Headway UK from
2001 to 2008. He was the main carer representative on the External Reference
Group for the NSF for Long Term (Neurological) Conditions (2003 – 2005). He was
Chair of ABIL from 2010 to 2012, and played a large part in the establishment of the
ABIL website in 2015 and in creating the new website which was launched in
November 2023. He has a particular interest in community & vocational
rehabilitation, and of the needs of carers.
