ABIL’s next in-person conference will be held on Wednesday 2 December at the offices of Irwin Mitchell Solicitors.
This is the second conference in our series examining the impact of brain injury on relationships and family life. Part One, held in June, focused on intimacy and partner relationships. This conference will turn its attention to the unique challenges, changing roles and evolving relationships between parents and children following a brain injury.
The 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 will cover:
🔹 Lived Experience Panel, chaired by Headway London, with families sharing first-hand what brain injury has meant for them as parents and children
🔹 It takes two to TANGO: supporting communication between families and their relative after brain injury, with Dr Nicholas Behn, NIHR Senior Research Fellow, Senior Lecturer and Speech and Language Therapist (City St George’s)
🔹 Dr Sunak, Consultant Neuropsychologist, on working with families after brain injury through a trauma lens, and how culture shapes relationship outcomes
🔹 More Than the Injury: Using Co-Production to Amplify Children’s Voices, with Dr Jenny Cropper, Clinical Psychologist, and Dr Noureen Lakhani, Educational Psychologist from Recolo
The event will conclude with an opportunity to connect with colleagues and friends over nibbles and refreshments.
Welcoming you will be Eky Popat and Elizabeth Nightingale, Co-Chairs of ABIL.
